Derek was admitted as a solicitor in 1994 and has practiced in commercial litigation, debt recovery, insolvency and dispute resolution for more than 30 years.
Formerly a partner of a firm of a large commercial litigation practice in Brisbane, he returned to the Gold Coast and established the firm in January 2006.
The firm now employs more than 12 lawyers and operates from offices in Surfers Paradise and Brisbane. The “Cronin Miller Building” has housed the principal office of the firm at 33 Elkhorn since 2008.
Derek and his partner Stacy Miller have each been recognised by “Doyles Guide” as leading solicitors in the areas of Commercial Litigation, as has the firm (Cronin Miller Litigation), making it currently the only legal team on the Gold Coast to receive this recognition.
Over the years the firm has sponsored and supported many community organisations including Pink Ribbon Race Day, Young Professionals Gold Coast, Gold Coast Project for Homeless Youth, BMD Northcliffe Surf Club, and Women of Influence.
Derek has more recently been involved in well-known construction insolvency matters including Pivotal Homes and Condev Construction.
