
Speaker Bio:
Perry Q Wood is Immediate Past President of the Australian Institute of Administrative Law and one of Australia’s leading migration and human rights lawyers.
Ranked in international industry listings and domestically in Doyle’s for 2023, 2024, 2025, he is recognised as one of Australia’s best migration and refugee lawyers. He practises in all aspects of Australian migration law, acting for both corporate and individual clients, including in crimmigration and deportation matters.
Mr Wood is a former Senior Member / Practice Leader of Australia’s administrative review tribunal (AAT) and previously served as an Asia-Pacific council member of the International Association of Refugee and Migration Judges.
To date, he has been involved in 2,500+ migration and refugee matters.
Earlier, he trained as a solicitor at Clayton Utz and served as the Chief Judge’s Associate at the County Court (to His Honour Chief Judge Rozenes AO KC) before practising as a Principal in both public and private practice.
He leads the firm’s pro-bono practice and has experience representing asylum seekers from various backgrounds.
Away from the law, Mr Wood is responsible for a multi-million dollar investment portfolio as Chair of the Investment Committee of the Australian Institute of International Affairs, first established as a branch of London’s Royal Institute of International Affairs (“ChathamHouse”) in Victoria in 1924.
